About Karen
Karen Wolters, RN, is the founder of HealthLight, with a long and diverse career in healthcare and medical innovation. A graduate of DePaul School of Nursing, Karen began her career as a registered nurse, where she gained hands-on experience across hospital, public health, and industrial nursing.
Her work has consistently focused on improving patient care through both compassionate practice and the advancement of medical technology. Today, Karen brings that same dedication to her leadership at HealthLight, helping clinicians harness the benefits of Photobiomodulation (PBM) for pain relief and improved circulation.

For over a decade, Karen has worked closely with HealthLight’s engineering team to design and refine red light therapy devices that maximize light penetration and patient outcomes.
Her deep understanding of both clinical needs and device technology ensures that HealthLight’s products meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy.
She also collaborates with clinicians to optimize PBM (Photobiomodulation) applications for pain relief, circulation improvement, and rehabilitation therapy.
Research Collaboration
Karen has maintained an 18-year consulting partnership with Dr. Tom Burke, PhD in Physiology, a leading researcher in blood flow and Photobiomodulation. Dr. Burke has taught at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and together, they’ve advanced the understanding of PBM’s role in promoting healing and circulation.
